Jakarta –
Six Indonesian basketball players have been banned from playing for life in Indonesia Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). Sanctions were given after they were proven to have matched the score last season.
The six basketball athletes include five from the Pacific Caesar club, namely Aga Siedartha, Arisanda, Gabriel Senduk, Yoseph Wijaya, and Aziz Wardhana. And one player from Bali United, namely Yerikho Tuasela.
They were proven to have committed violations in the regular season of the competition after receiving a report from the club in question and a team consisting of representatives IBL and Perbasi conduct an in-depth investigation of the perpetrators.
“We thank Pacific Caesar for trying to be open and working together so that this case can be investigated in detail, comprehensively,” said IBL President Director Junas Miradiarsyah, in a virtual press conference Wednesday (12/29/2021).
“So this is the act of an individual, not a group, not even a club, which has been recognized and there are reasons why it was done, one of which is economic,” he said.
“According to the IBL regulations, when something like that happens, whether you want to be directly involved or not, the initiator or the bandwagon, the language is still involved. When involved, the article is the same, namely a life ban and a fine of Rp. 100 million and there is no tolerance for this case,” he asserted. .
Regarding the issue of appeal, Junas emphasized that the principle of IBL is open as long as the perpetrators can prove their absence from the match fixing case.
“We are open and have spoken with Perbasi. If there is one thing that can be conveyed, for example new evidence can declare him innocent. Please. But before we impose sanctions, there is evidence and conveys it to the person concerned,” he explained.
“And what has been explained must be true, if there is information that is not true at that time, we can do it no further. Because why was it not disclosed earlier,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Pacific Caesar Manager Irsya Pribadi emphasized that the suspicion of a match fixing case had been felt for a long time. However, he respects the results because the process is not easy and takes time.
“Indeed, from the beginning of the season we received information that some of our players were suspected of being involved. But for the specifics of the match, if I’m not mistaken it was five or six matches,” said Irsyan.
“But we want to emphasize that the players acted on their initiative, there was no management, coaching staff involved in fixing this score. So the actions involved were purely individual interests. We hope that in the future we will work together to tighten cooperation so that something similar does not happen,” he said. .
