PSG won on the smallest of scores in Bordeaux, scoring a match overall very average. Review of the individual performances of Parisians on a case-by-case basis.
<!–
Navas : Overall very quiet in the first period with the exception of a few recessed balls to negotiate, he was called upon much more often after the break and assured in all circumstances. He first managed several outings in the opposing feet, showing each time a good vivacity, then was at the very least solid at the end of the game. He especially pushed back with a nice dive on his line a header from Briand who went towards the goal before intervening on the corner of the last chance. Good Navas, as always.
Growing up: The Parisian right-back was back in the starting XI and delivered a shy performance at best. During the half-time when Paris dominated, we hardly saw him on the attack and he especially applied himself not to lose the ball, he who was regularly in a hurry by Bordeaux who quickly felt that ‘he wasn’t very confident. He will go up even less after the break, except for a good move where he manages to get into a center position, and he has mostly focused on defense. He thus signed a good return to the axis at the start of the second period but conceded an avoidable corner in the wake, as a symbol of his match where he struggled to string together positive actions.
Sweeper He replaced him post for post for the end of the match and he started with a mad rush forward but not at all controlled. He calmed down later and was generally assured, despite a free kick that was still too easily offered.
Marquinhos: Far from the sometimes palpable excitement of the Parisian wings, the Parisian captain was clean in what he did in all circumstances. If the Bordeaux attackers arrived regularly launched against him, he was hardly ever wiped out and always protected his goal, hence the lack of chances for Bordeaux. Also very good in the air, he was applied with the ball to the foot, slamming a superb cross for Kurzawa in the first half.
Kimpembe: Obviously not 100% during the game as he admitted half-heartedly after the meeting, it did not bother him to play his match and he released, like Marquinhos at his side, a convincing performance. With the exception of a center from Sabaly which he does not manage very well, he was particularly solid in the duels when he was called upon, with a strong intervention by half-time. In the revival, he also found sharpness and precision after several less successful matches.
Kurzawa: Very offensive on his first balls, he animated his left flank beautifully in the first period and regularly managed to bring danger. Despite a little waste, he found himself involved in most of the Parisian movements of the first act and his climbs were therefore useful. Much less to his avatange in the second half, he is in total pain when Bordeaux pushes and he then multiplied the faults and the balls returned too quickly to the opponent, even if he had few solutions around him. He vaguely recovered at the end and then went a notch higher, being warned in the process.
Danilo : The Portuguese continued after his game in Dijon and he once again placed himself in this role of very defensive midfielder who weighs little in the game. We have hardly seen him with the ball in the midfield and he has often played very simply, sometimes even too close to its goal so as not to lose the ball. Problem, we also saw very little when defending in general and it was completely optional in the second half when Bordeaux was pushing. Few balls recovered, many lost, he sank like the middle of PSG. And if he finished the game properly, again like the whole team, he again appeared very technically borrowed.
Gueye : The Senegalese was one if not the best Parisian of the match, and for a simple reason: he performed well throughout the game. During the first act, he did not hesitate to take his responsibilities and carried the ball towards the opposing goal, whether it is with the ball at the foot or by passing well felt forward. It is no coincidence that he is a decisive passer after a good movement on the left side which followed his pressing which triggered the goal at the start of the action. In the second half, he was less technically inspired but was always active and available to his partners, raking and relaunching in a rather clean way even if we saw less in the offensive register except for a nice breakthrough. A real good match on his part.
Rafinha: In the same role of No. 10 as a few days earlier, the Brazilian quickly dropped out to organize the game as he knows how to do and he is thus involved in the opening of the scoring by shifting Gueye. Very available in the first half, his partners looked for him a lot and he always offered himself, even with his back to the game when he was framed by the opponent, and he was therefore not always able to turn around despite his technique. On the other hand, he disappeared from circulation after the break and did not weigh at all in the Parisian game, the latter finding himself without his technical relay in the middle. Passed to the right to finish the match, he was better in this role and again managed to hold the leather when his team needed. After two months without playing, he especially gave the impression of being a little short physically to hold an entire match.
Sarabia : Holder following the absence of Moise Kean, the Spaniard was able to take the opportunity to show himself to his advantage and his goal, far from being easy to set, is very expensive in the race for the title. Right attacking midfielder in theory, he spent the first act to transplant into the axis and his forays paid off since he had already had two similar opportunities even before the goal. He was a little less inspired in his passes, despite a sublime for Icardi, and was also very little in sight in the second half as the balls did not arrive. He wasn’t particularly inspired when he got the leather on his feet, either. Defensively, he always made the effort and allowed his lane to be locked. For a quick replacement, he more than gets the job done.
Diallo He replaced him in the last minutes and he positioned himself, once again, on the left side. He assured on his few balloons touched.
Draxler: Placed on the left side as in his best years, the German animated his corridor very well at the start of the match, combining well with Kurzawa or his partners around, and he was then fair in his choices even on the edge of the surface. . This very good start did not last and he disappeared from circulation after barely half an hour, never really coming back into the game. Still invisible after the break, he was also very little involved defensively and left Kurzawa to drown in front of several opponents, Draxler watching from afar Sabaly rise and bring danger …
Herrera Logically replaced him for the end of the game and the Spaniard came to fill a midfield which much needed it. His entry was immediately felt and he brought stability and continuity to a Parisian game that was sorely lacking. Travel, single passes, availability, everything that was missing at that point in the game.
Icardi: The Argentine striker was making his comeback and he signed a very poor performance, showing himself heavy on the few balls he was able to touch. He hardly ever managed to get the upper hand over Koscielny, 35, and was technically imprecise the few times he found himself in a good position. He certainly hampered the opposing defense on goal but his record in the area is still very light for a player supposed to be dominant there. If he complained a lot about his partners, he did not do much to help them, despite a few stalls after the hour of play. Defensively, he ran to cut pass lines. Not enough to save a generally insufficient balance sheet.
