Mastering for streaming services: mastering on -14 LUFS or not?

In the last weeks and months there have been a lot of videos about mastering for streaming services and especially mastering for Spotify. In our chat, the question often arises whether it is better to adapt the master to -14 LUFS or to send a “normal” mastering to digital sales. André Masterati explains quickly what happens after the upload at Digital Sales and what Spotify does with the master audio files you have delivered. Some people also get a big surprise that Spotify is not on -14 LUFS Int. normalized according to ITU1770 standard. In addition, André shows you how he uses special software from NUGEN Audio to ensure that streaming-ready mastering versions remain distortion-free on as many streaming platforms as possible.

Thanks go to Björn Schlüter from Storia Mastering, who recently drew attention to the replay gain process in the live stream.
