The Gaffe
Hilarious gaffe for the very young Nicolò Molinari during the episode of Masterchef Italy on Thursday 28 December. In the first test the competitors faced the first “real” Mystery Box of the season, dedicated to one of the most classic Italian snacks: bread and salami.
A combination that is something more, it is an explosion of flavors thanks to two simple ingredients: and the objective of the test organized by the three judges Bruno Barbieri, Antonino Cannavacciuolo and Giorgio Locatelli will be to lead the Masterclass to reflect on the concept of “explosion of flavors”, inventing something simple which then opens up surprising worlds.
Chef Locatelli approached Nicolò’s table and asked him for updates on Francesca, the girl he met at Live cooking. The young law student, a little excited, said that he never saw her again because when she went to visit him he was here on Masterchef.
The chef, however, continued to investigate and Nicolò replied «I’m being a pig chef», referring to the dish he was cooking, but the phrase was too greedy and mischievous not to be underlined by the Chef who laughed heartily. Having realized the gaffe, Nicolò tried to remedy it «No in the sense of the dish, I’m a romantic»
Who is Nicolò Molinari
Nicolò is 19 years old and has clear ideas, he is confident, genuine and polite, dynamic and hyperactive, very curious. Parents from Campania, he lived in Naples until the age of 5, then moved to Florence for his father’s job as a notary. He then moved to Rome to study law, but he guarantees: «I won’t be a notary. I want to find my own path, not paved by others.”
He plays various sports and is very attached to his origins: he still remembers the days spent in the garden or in the chicken coop, during which he got used to strong flavors such as “chicken innards and offal”. The “taste of the past” with which he grew up is today the protagonist of his dishes, Nicolò’s cuisine is traditional, full of simple raw materials with an extra touch (“for example, pasta and potatoes with caviar”).
