In the fourth episode of MasterChef Italyaired Thursday 4 January are Sky One and streaming on SkyGo and Now TV, we attended the premiere Golden Mystery Box of the season led, once again, by Bruno Barbieri, Antonino Cannavacciuolo and Giorgio Locatelli. The eliminated from last night – we remember – are Valeria and Nicolòthe young 19-year-old who became “famous” for his alleged flirtation with Francesca, the aspiring chef who had failed the selections.
MasterChef Italia, 4 January: from the Golden Mystery Box to the first eliminated
The episode starts off very well, with Settimino saying he is a lion and Niccolò (the hypochondriac doctor) saying he feels like a mussel. There Golden Mystery Box not only does it give the chance to win the Golden Pin, but also to go directly to the balcony, as do all the contestants who present a well-cooked dish to the judges. Anyone who is not chosen among the best or does not convince the Chefs when tasted must face the Invention test. The test is to use all or just some of the yellow ingredients in the box. To avoid a single colour, they can choose to add the artichoke (-10 min of time compared to the total 45) or the rack of venison (-20 min).
A lot of things happen during the challenge, but one in particular does infuriate Chef Cannavacciuolo: Kassandra bursts into tears due to a problem with the Siphon. His intention is to create a foam that accompanies the meat, but the instrument seems to disagree with the idea as much as the Neapolitan chef. “Kassandra, when you see that it doesn’t work, it changes. However, it’s not like I’m going to put foam on a piece of meat… I’m trying to make you understand where you’re wrong“, says Cannavacciuolo. The girl, however, justifies herself and contests the latter’s words several times and Locatelli intervenes: “You come across as very arrogant in this, he’s trying to explain something to you. You just don’t listen“. Antonino concludes by declaring: “Foam… The siphon is in charge, you are not in charge, and today it won“. A triumphing in the test is Niccolò – “Did you understand what you did? The plate explodes. You’re not a mussel, you’re a lion“, says Cannavacciuolo – followed on the balcony by Alberto, Sara, Settimino, Marcus and Eleonora. After receiving the Golden Pin, Niccolò comments: “They are the brightest mussel in the Adriatic“.
All’Invention test instead, all those who have not given emotions to the judges participate, who propose a rather significant challenge: they must create a dish starring cod that tells something about themselves, but Niccolò can decide who to give 4 disadvantages to. The doctor would like to give them all to Michela, but the judges do not accept her and therefore only forbids her to use them for cooking plates; he gives Antonio a ban on using a knife; Alice uses small household appliances; and Deborah is responsible for using the dishes. The best is Michelawho approaches the balcony to say to Niccolò: “The only thing stopping me is the coffin“. LValeria is eliminated from the challenge.
Lo Skill test
The external commissioner of the Skill test he is the Brazilian star chef Alex Atala, who has the power to stop for a minute, complete with hourglass in hand, those who he thinks have lost their way, all with the aim of giving these aspiring chefs useful advice on how to continue the race. The first step consists in preparing a savory dish with typical fruit and Amazonian honey. Only Michela, as the winner of the Invention, can taste the Chef’s delicacies before starting to cook. Settimino, Andrea and Lorenzo are stuck, while Michela, Beatrice, Eleonora, Alice, Alberto, Sara and Deborah immediately pass the first step. It is in this circumstance that Bruno Barbieri gets angry with Lorenzo because he responded badly to Cannavacciuolo, who was only telling him how a certain part of the pork should be prepared. “Pwhere you go custom you find“, commented the young man, but the Chef from Romagna defends his colleague’s good deed and replies to Lorenzo: “Lower the crest“, before putting it back and continuing with the next test.
The second heat sees the competitors grappling with the valorisation of cassava and tapioca – two ingredients widely used in Brazil – in a vegetarian dish: Filippo, Kassandra, Settimino, Anna and Antonio take to the balcony. Finally, the third step consists in preparing a dish that represents their idea of the Amazon. Moved by fear, before tasting, Niccolò decides to lose his Golden Pin to save himself, but later discovers that his dish is actually very good and says: “If I hadn’t used it, it would have turned into an inedible dish“. Now in the balance are Lorenzo, Andrea and Nicholas (“with a single c“, he himself recalls), who comes eliminated.
