Přemek Forejt, Jan Punchochář and Radek Kašpárek. Most people know the trio of chefs as judges of the popular cooking show MasterChef Česko, which TV Nova is currently broadcasting. The last mentioned is the chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant Field. The rating is excellent, but we noticed criticism of the wine prices in the reviews.

At the outset, we mention that only two restaurants in the Czech Republic have one Michelin star, both in Prague. In addition to Field, it is La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise, where the chef is Oldřich Sahajdák.

The Michelin Guide describes Field as a stylishly decent restaurant where Czech dishes mix classic and modern elements.

You can choose from the tasting menu, which consists of six or ten courses. On weekdays you can have a lunch menu, on the weekend the weekend menu.

Tip, in the Czech Republic it is colloquially known as dýško. This is an amount that is voluntarily added to the final price for the service. At all…

And the prices?

A two-course lunch menu on weekdays costs 1,100 crowns, a three-course menu costs 1,350 crowns. For example, in the penultimate week of September, duck, chutney, hazelnut and a bun were served as an appetizer, while the second appetizer was mountain cheese, peas, curlew and foxtails. As a main course, there was a choice of either rabbit with potatoes, cabbage and cucumber or pork with peas, beets and mustard. For dessert, chocolate with sour cherries, pink pepper and tarragon or curd with truffles, Jerusalem artichoke and blueberries were served.

You pay 2,200 crowns for the weekend lunch menu.

The aforementioned ten-course tasting menu, which is served every day, is slightly more expensive. It costs exactly four thousand, the vegetarian version is two hundred cheaper. Six-speed ones cost 2,900 crowns. Wine or non-alcoholic pairings can also be purchased.

Really expensive wines

Those who don’t buy it often pay more for a drink than for the whole dinner.

Our editors have read dozens of reviews. The food is considered excellent, we found a complaint in this direction very rarely.

But the guests were surprised by the price of the wines.

After PrahaIN.cz published an analysis that concerned the gastro industry, three readers contacted our editorial office. It was soups. It’s you…

“I paid more for three glasses of wine than the whole dinner,” read one comment. Several others also commented on the quality of the wines, people were particularly bothered by the fact that most of the wines are foreign, not Czech.

Wine by the glass has a volume of 0.15 liters.

Chardonnay Hermes Gala is the cheapest, it costs 310 crowns. Riesling Schwarzberg Zilvar is ten crowns more expensive. A glass of Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Achleiten Prager costs 660 crowns, Meursault Les Vireuils Benjamin Leroux costs 740 crowns and the most expensive is Saint Aubin La Princée Hubert Lamy, which costs 920 crowns.

A bottle of wine for almost 50 thousand

A glass of red Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi even 2,750 crowns.

Those who want the whole bottle will have to dig even deeper into their pockets.

The price of Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes Jacques Prieur is 8,150 korun, Montrachet Grand Cru Etienne Sauzet 49,150 korun. Červené Vosne-Romanée Domaine des Perdrix z Francie vyjde na 5,550 korun, Romanée St Vivant Grand Cru Domaine Robert Arnoux 28,500 korun.

Half a liter of Tokaji Esszencia Királyudvar sweet wine costs 20,900 crowns.
