The city of Huancayo, capital of the Junín region, suffers from the drop in the minimum temperature by registering 3 degrees below zero and those most affected by this event are children and older adults who may suffer from acute respiratory infections or pneumonia. Faced with this situation, the staff of the Immunology service of the El Carmen de Huancayo hospital developed a massive campaign of vaccination directed to the administrative and care staff of the hospital.
Las specialists toured all the areas and offices of the maternal and child hospital to vaccinate to an average of 500 workers who did not have to travel from their offices to be vaccinated.
Nursing graduate Iliana Chuquillanqui Cosme, from the Immunization area of Hospital El Carmen, explained that influenza can range from a cold to a complication with the following symptoms: sudden fever, cough, headache, and muscle pain. “It is advisable to go to health establishments for treatment and avoid complications,” she said.
To prevent complications in respiratory infectionsthe regional hospital has the vaccines: pentavalent for babies older than two months, influenza from six months, pneumonia for older adults and DPT for pregnant women.
The director of the hospital, Luis Porras Gonzales, announced that various health strategies are carried out to optimize the attention of the services at a general level.
He said that the El Carmen hospital invites all citizens to get vaccinated, especially in these times of frost. The immunology service located in the Outpatient Consultation area, provides its services in the morning for children and in the afternoon for adults.
