“Massive State Subsidies for Sports Facilities in Freiburg Region: All Applications Considered by Regional Council”

There is money for sports fields and halls: As the Freiburg regional council (RP) announced on Friday, the Ministry of Education for the municipalities in the administrative district of Freiburg has provided a subsidy of a good four million euros for the construction of sports facilities. This will trigger an investment volume of around 50 million euros. According to its own statements, the RP can therefore subsidize all funding applications submitted by the municipalities for 2023. The Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district will benefit from this, which will receive 140,000 euros for the renovation of the district sports hall at the Dreisamtal school centre, the municipality of Ebringen (62,000 euros; new construction of a multifunctional playing field), Müllheim (270,000 euros; refurbishment of the Eichwald stadium), Umkirch (55,000 euros; refurbishment of the Gym and festival hall) and the city of Freiburg Freiburg (14,000 euros; renovation of the artificial turf pitch in the Rieselfeld district).

According to the announcement, the 24 projects that receive funding of between 14,000 and 600,000 euros are divided between the renovation and new construction of sports and multi-purpose halls and outdoor facilities such as small and large playing fields, athletics facilities and 400-meter running tracks, as well as the renovation of changing rooms of sports facilities. According to the announcement, around 13.4 million euros are available nationwide for 82 municipal sports facility construction projects in 2023. The Ministry of Culture, regional councils, municipal state associations and Baden-Württemberg sports associations had agreed on this.
