A fire broke out in a pile of mown grass in the Het Bossche Broek nature reserve. The fire released large, stinking clouds of smoke, which spread over Den Bosch.
Because the fire was in a rural area, the fire brigade had to bring water to it. In addition, the pile of grass must be “completely pulled apart”, a fire brigade spokesperson said last night. That took a lot of time.
The fire in the nature reserve:
Fire near Den Bosch causes large plumes of smoke
Residents of Den Bosch have been advised via an NL Alert to close windows and doors and turn off ventilation. Just after 9 p.m., a second NL Alert was sent to a larger area.
According to the spokesperson, no harmful substances were measured. The NL-Alert was sent because the smoke and odor caused a nuisance. Because there was no wind, the smoke lingered in the city.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The fire may have been caused by overheating.
