Massive Protest Against State Racism in Nantes: Over 500 People March in the Winter Cold

In the winter cold, more than 500 people marched on Monday December 18 in Nantes against state racism

In a stifling political climate, dominated by the far right, with a government which implements the program of the National Rally and media which demonize racism, this march aimed to protest against the bill carried by the Minister of the Interior. She also denounced the Administrative Retention Center project planned in Nantes, at the initiative of Darmanin and the socialist town hall.

The Macronist bill constitutes a racist and neoliberal headlong rush, aiming both to further harass undocumented people, to increase expulsions while further exploiting people exiled at work, for the greater benefit of employers .

This nighttime demonstration was initiated by Gasprom, an association committed to solidarity and mutual aid with all immigrants for many years.

Torches and candles lit up the night, determined songs warmed up the parade and a model of a Retention Center was in the procession, before disappearing in a large bonfire at the end of the route.

The fight does not stop there, a meeting against the CRA is called for Saturday January 20, 2024 and will connect Beaujoire to Carquefou, the site which seems to have been selected for the construction of the center.
