Massive Fire in Oss Distribution Center Still Raging – Latest Updates

A fire in a distribution center in Oss that has been raging since Friday morning is still not out. The fire only got bigger during the evening. About 11 pm, about 250 firefighters from all over the area worked to extinguish the fire.

Extinguishment takes so long because the seat of the fire is in a large cold room. Firefighting water freezes, making it slippery and making it difficult for the emergency services to do their job.

The fire brigade is also trying to prevent the fire from spreading to another company building. Five people who live around the distribution center spend the night elsewhere.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from ten kilometers away last night. Images of the smoke clouds came from Nijmegen, almost thirty kilometers away, among others.

In and around Oss people have found flying particles in their garden or on the street, including solar panels. The city of Ois warns that these can be sharp. It is recommended to wear gloves when cleaning. Due to particulates and developing smoke, farmers in the area are being asked to keep their livestock indoors at this time.

Sixty trucks were also caught in the smoke on the industrial estate where the fire was going. They went to a parking lot near Ois town hall during the night.
