Hanoi: Many people died in a huge fire in an apartment block in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Many people were injured. Eyewitnesses said that the fire broke out on the parking floor of the 10-storey building around midnight on Tuesday. About 70 people were rescued. 54 people, including the deceased, have been shifted to hospital.
The fire was extinguished on Wednesday morning. The search is on for people trapped in the apartment. Police said it was difficult to get into the building, which is located on a narrow road in an upscale residential area in southwest Hanoi.
The next fire comes a year after 32 people were killed at a three-story karaoke bar in the commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City. Around 17 people were seriously injured in the fire that day. The owner was arrested on charges of breaching immunity rules.
