A Japan Airlines plane was engulfed in flames while landing on the runway at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
NHK footage showed flames coming out of the plane’s windows and underneath it, the BBC reported.

The runway also caught fire.
The plane, which took off from Sapporo, collided with a coast guard plane, NHK said, citing authorities.

All 379 passengers and crew on board were evacuated, media reported, citing the airline.

“We are currently assessing the extent of the damage,” the airline said.
The plane took off from New Chitose Airport at 4:00 p.m. local time (7:00 a.m. GMT) and was scheduled to land in Haneda at 5:40 p.m.

Television footage showed multiple fire engines at the scene as smoke and flames billowed from the plane.
