Kozhikode: A massive fire broke out at the corporation’s waste disposal facility. A fire broke out in a garbage storage facility near Kozhikode beach this morning. The fire department immediately reached the spot and extinguished the fire. No one was reported injured in the incident. The Kozhikode Corporation’s second garbage disposal facility to collapse in three years.

The fire that started in the plastic waste suddenly broke out. A large amount of black smoke also rose. Along with the fire brigade, soldiers from the West Hill Army Camp, police and locals were on the scene to put out the fire. They worked hard for two hours and brought the fire under control. After extinguishing the fire, the locals stopped the attempt to remove the garbage to the plant premises.

After 12 days of collective efforts, the initial fire was extinguished. As the garbage including plastic was set on fire, the thick smoke was making life difficult for the people. Due to this, the educational institutes in Kochi were given a holiday.
