A few hours before the breakfast cannon, Monday, tongues of smoke covered the sky of Alexandria, specifically in the Saba Basha area, a few meters away from the Stanley Bridge, causing traffic paralysis on the Alexandria Corniche Road.

A report was received quickly from the Emergency Police Department to the First Raml Police Department confirming that a large fire had broken out in a café and facilities inside the Pharmacists Club in the Saba Basha area on the Alexandria Corniche Road.

The department’s investigation officers and civil protection forces, accompanied by fire engines and ambulances, moved to the site of the report, and the inspection revealed that a massive fire had broken out in the buildings and facilities of the Pharmacists Club – most of which were cafes made of wood and flammable materials, and that it had extended to the adjacent State Council Club.

The fire resulted in the Pharmacists Club being completely destroyed, and damage to the State Council Club, without any injuries or losses.

Civil protection forces succeeded in controlling the massive fire and preventing the flames from spreading to neighboring clubs, while cooling the entire fire site.

Dr. Mohamed Onsi Al-Shafi’i, head of the Alexandria Pharmacists Syndicate, inspected the effects of the massive fire, saying that the fire broke out in the Pharmacists Club and the State Council Club in Saba Pasha without any casualties.

The necessary report on the incident was prepared at the Raml First Police Department, and it is being presented to the Public Prosecution for investigation.
