Massive fight after Getafe – Villarreal: four red cards and police action

Wednesday night’s match between Getafe and Villarreal has gotten out of hand. After the game, players from both teams got into trouble and. even the police had to use it to de-escalate. After the last whistle, the referee gave four red cards.

Getafe lost the duel with Villarreal in the closing stages and is not happy with some arbitration decisions. For example, Villarreal received two controversial penalties and the latter team scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute. The match was under high tension because both Getafe (6th) and Villarreal (5th) are still competing for a European ticket.

After the game, according to Spanish media, things went completely wrong between the teams. After a confrontation in the player’s tunnel, the referee dealt no less than four red cards: one to Villarreal (Vicente Iborra) and three to Getafe (Allan Nyon, Damián Suárez and Xabier Etxeita). Out of sight of the cameras, a brawl ensued in which teammates had to intervene to appease things. The police also reported.

Getafe will play with Alavés next Monday, Villarreal will meet Real Sociedad.
