A real treasure has been discovered near the hideout of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder and leader of the Wagner group. The Fontanka portal has revealed that five thousand banknotes, worth approximately four billion rubles (equivalent to 43 million euros), were found inside boxes. Alongside the banknotes, five kilograms of gold bars, six pistols in packs, and five tiles of white powder were also discovered near Prigozhin’s office.
In addition to these findings, documents were uncovered, including passports in Prigozhin’s name. However, these passports featured the same personal data but had a photograph of another man. Fontanka suggests that this man is an impersonator of Prigozhin, who reportedly toured Europe in 2021.
Meanwhile, the mercenaries of the Wagner group are in the midst of a retreat. They have completely left the Lipetsk region, located approximately 400 kilometers south of Moscow. The withdrawal of mercenaries from the Voronezh region, further south, is also ongoing. Following the revolt of Wagner’s mercenaries, the Chechen special forces deployed in Rostov have also left the region after the group’s withdrawal.
The commander of the “Akhmat” forces has announced that his units are returning to the front lines in Ukraine, where they are fighting alongside Chechen troops. This comes after Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov denounced the “betrayal” of Prigozhin’s mercenaries and announced the dispatch of his men against them.
The discovery of the treasure near Prigozhin’s hideout and the ongoing retreat of the Wagner group’s mercenaries mark significant developments in the unfolding situation. The implications of these findings and the actions taken by various forces will undoubtedly have far-reaching consequences in the region.
