On September 17, the police discovered the corpses of Alberto Rolon, 32, Zoraida Bartolomei, 38, and their two young boys, aged 7 and 9, as well as their three dogs at the family home in Romeoville, near Chicago.
Three days later, police spotted a suspicious vehicle on surveillance cameras that could link its driver to the murders. Its owner was identified: Nathaniel Huey Jr. The 32-year-old man ran an unlicensed security company in the nearby town of Streamwood. It closed its doors just a week before the murder. The individual is considered dangerous and was arrested in 2016 for assault and battery and has several convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A 2017 order prohibited him from carrying a firearm but several photos since show him with weapons, writes the “Daily Mail”.
The suspect ran a security company that closed shortly before the murders.
Days later, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted on an Oklahoma highway, hundreds of miles from the scene of the murders. The police then began pursuing the vehicle and a press release at the time announced that the suspect and his companion, Ermalinda Palomo, 50, had died during this event. A video filmed by a police officer’s body camera and which has just been broadcast, notably by abcshows what happened that day.
Two shots
We see the escapees’ car crashed against the highway dividing wall and it begins to catch fire. The police surround the vehicle, guns drawn, and shout at the two occupants to get out. But then we hear two gunshots. The police then discovered that Nathaniel Huey Jr. was dead and his companion seriously injured. She died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The hypothesis put forward is that the suspect shot Ermalinda before committing suicide.
The woman’s family confirmed she was Nathaniel Huey’s girlfriend, but said she had nothing to do with the Romeoville murders. We still do not know the motives for these crimes and whether Huey was indeed the perpetrator. Ermalinda Palomo’s lawyer said the murdered father may have worked with Huey. Investigators said they found links between the suspect and the murdered family, without specifying which ones, and said there were no other suspects in the case.
Ermalinda Palomo’s daughter from a previous relationship said Nathaniel Huey had changed terribly in recent months, distrusting everyone, even his partner.
