ARAB AL ARAMSHEH (ISRAEL-LEBANON BORDER) – A survivor of the rave massacre in Rhyme yesterday morning he told the Israeli channel Israel 24 news (in the Arabic language edition) that the presence of Hamas lasted many hours and in that period of time people who appeared to be ordinary people and not terrorists of the armed group used the gaps opened in the barrier to also exit the Gaza Strip and joined the armed men in violence against civilians.
“The vandals killed hostages with knives, raped women and were laughing,” says the witness. In the amateur videos of that day we see individuals – often very young, without military equipment and probably not part of Hamas – taking part in the hostage-taking, hitting the captured people with punches and spit and transport them within the Strip. The accusation of rape has also been made by other survivors in recent days.
Other videos on Saturday showed the celebrations for the success of the operation, but those for years have been part of the ritual desired by Hamas, such as the distribution of sweets on street corners and fireworks. The Palestinian raiders wore for the most part olive green military overalls very similar to the Israeli ones, to increase chaos and mislead civilians, and therefore it is easy to distinguish them from the crowd of Palestinians who took advantage of the total lack of control on the part of the Israeli forces to pour out of the barrier.
Testimonies of the massacre of five days ago are filling Israeli channels in these hours, both from the concert attacked in the morning and from the kibbutzim that ended up under the control of Hamas for almost a day.
There is an account on Instagram that collects them and translates them into English. On Telegram a group of rescuers who were the first to arrive at the sites of the massacres are publishing uncensored images of what they saw – and that’s a lot because the official death toll yesterday rose to more than a thousand. In some cases these are photos of civilians shot in their homes, in their beds or in village car parks.
The relief team is also releasing videos taken from kibbutz surveillance cameras showing the terrorists’ break-in, and other videos taken from car-mounted cameras, which contain similar scenes: civilians killed as they try to flee on foot or by car, a young man caught in the parking lot of the rave shot while lying on the ground. The most affected kibbutzim are those of Be’eri, Reim and Kfar Aza so far, but many others have suffered the same treatment and the death toll could rise further.
That day there were also Hamas teams men with cameras to film the operations, but so far only a few clips have been released – on official channels. These are rather neutral videos, such as patrols in the streets and among the houses of Israeli villages, or action scenes that aim to cast a heroic light on the raid. The footage of the mass violence will not be released because, obviously, it would only be an advantage for Israel, which is about to launch a ground operation against the Gaza Strip. Two days ago the spokesperson, Abu Obeida, threatened individual hostages with execution on camera. The Israeli government and army when they talk about Hamas violence now say that they are “like Daesh”, the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State, the group of Sunni fanatics who in recent years have published numerous videos of mass executions.
