A Massachusetts woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of killing her boyfriend.
Authorities say 64-year-old Judy Church of Salisbury poisoned her boyfriend with ethylene glycol, a compound commonly found in antifreeze, deicing fluid and hydraulic brake fluid.
According to the Essex District Attorney’s Office, Church called police for an ambulance shortly after 8pm on 11 November. Emergency crews found Church’s boyfriend Leroy Fowler, 46, with ill health. Fowler was taken to three different hospitals for treatment and was pronounced dead on November 13.
An autopsy determined that Fowler died of ethylene glycol poisoning, according to the Essex district attorney’s office. Authorities say additional information from their investigation also led them to arrest Church in connection with Fowler’s death.
Church faced a judge Friday in Newburyport District Court and was held without bail, prosecutors said. He is due to appear in court on January 23.
