Summer visits us on Monday. High temperatures will soar under sunny skies and challenge the record of 82 degrees in Boston. Worcester shouldn’t reach the record 80 degrees, but it will still be a warm day with highs around 70 degrees. An unusually warm high pressure system is responsible for this warm period through midweek. It has been setting records and heating up the eastern 2/3rds of the country for the past few days.
Cooler air is on the other side of the cold front on Thursday. More October-like air will move in during the day and we will be back to normal on Friday. However, it looks like milder air will try to return over the weekend, when highs once again reach the 60s.
As we go through all the temperature changes over the next few days, the only thing missing will be rain. A few showers will accompany the passage of the cold front Wednesday night, and then more dry air is expected over the coming weekend and perhaps much of the following week. Low humidity, falling leaves and dry soils will keep fire danger elevated today and perhaps Wednesday with increasingly stronger winds.
Enjoy this last space of warm temperatures!
