Police in Allen, Texas have responded to reports of a mass shooting at a shopping center.
Police are asking people to stay away from the area.
Eight are being treated in hospital, and the victims are said to be as young as five years old.
– Of those who receive treatment, there are victims from five to 61 years old, says the hospital.
Chief of Police Brian Harvey says that there are fatalities after the shooting, but they have not yet announced how many there will be.
A shooter is said to be dead on the spot, reports local media that have the information from the sheriff in Collin County.
CNN writes that the police searched the area in search of a possible second shooter. This happened because of witness descriptions, but it has not been confirmed that there are to be two perpetrators.
The police believe they have control of the car the perpetrator came in. He was dressed in black and was wearing military clothing.
The police chief says that they believe the perpetrator acted alone, writes NTB.
Video images from the scene show the police working to evacuate people in groups. The images have also shown blood on the ground and white sheets over what appear to be bodies outside a shop.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement that his thoughts are with the people of Allen after what he called an unspeakable tragedy. Abbott says he has been in contact with local authorities and offered help from the state.

There are several photos and videos that show the horrific scenes at the centre. Eyewitness Fontayne Payton (35) says that she was at an H&M store when the shooting started.
When she left the store, she saw several bodies, according to NTB.
– I pray that it was not a child, but it looked like a child. It broke me when I went out and saw it, he says.
Another witness tells CNN that they hid for two hours before the police cleared the area.
