For the seventh weekend in a row, Belarusians have taken to the streets in droves to demonstrate peacefully against President Lukashenko. They accuse him of widespread fraud in the presidential election in early August and demand his resignation.
The biggest protest was in Minsk. The authorities had shut down metro stations in the center as on previous Sundays and also restricted mobile internet traffic. Still, tens of thousands of capitals managed to reach the demonstration. Activists say that at least 53 protesters have been arrested across the country so far.
