A total of 34 elementary school students in Saguling Village, Saguling District, Regency West Bandungexperienced mass poisoning after consuming snacks aci mini alias cimin in front of their school, Tuesday (26/9) morning.
Dozens of students who were poisoned after consuming the spicy cimin were rushed to community health centers and hospitals. In the mass poisoning incident, one student died because he had comorbidities.
“There was 1 person who died, at Dustira Hospital. But because he had a comorbidity or accompanying disease, it was thalassemia. History of routine control at RSHS,” said Head of the Saguling Village Health Center, Burhan, Friday (29/9).
The victim, who was only 9 years old, died while being treated at Dustira Hospital, Cimahi City on Wednesday (27/9) evening, at around 23.30 WIB.
Burhan said the peak of mass poisoning cases occurred on Thursday (28/9) from 01.00 WIB until the morning.
The victims of mass poisoning were rushed to the Community Health Center and a number of hospitals in the Cimahi City and West Bandung areas. They experience symptoms of poisoning such as vomiting, diarrhea and fever.
“For this case of mass poisoning, 15 people were treated at the community health center, 13 people were treated outpatient, 1 person was treated at RSCK, 3 people at Kartini Hospital, 1 person at the Assyida clinic, and 1 person at Dustira Hospital. So to date there are 34 people. Burhan said.
Previously, the Head of Saguling Subdistrict, Kemal Adhiyaksa, said that the poisoning incident started when the students at SDN 3 Jati complained of nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, fever and vomiting simultaneously. These symptoms are felt by students after consuming snacks at school.
“So these children had snacks on Tuesday when they were at school, but on Wednesday they started having symptoms of fever, vomiting and diarrhea,” said Kemal.
Quoting from the broadcast CNNIndonesia TVafter the mass poisoning of elementary school students, the Cimahi Police Inafis team searched the house of an aci mini snack seller.
The police examined and took mini food items as evidence. The temporary suspicion that the cause of the poisoning refers to the chili powder used.
