/ world today news/ Mass miners working in the ill-fated Oranovo mine asked to go on sick leave. About 20 workers have already submitted medical notes. People do not want to enter the mine that buried four of their colleagues.
There are 255 miners working at Oranovo. “We have yet to find out if they intend to return to work or if they will leave. They will make their own choice,” added the mine manager. Only some of the bosses and the three gas meters were in the mine yesterday. “They measure the presence and concentration of methane and other gases inside. We monitor the fire situation, since the coal can self-ignite, the mine waters are drained so that there is no flooding in the workings,” explained chief engineer Bonislav Popov.
The miners from the three shifts are expected to come to work on Monday. “We will not leave them without work. The sections will be fixed again, the machines will be checked and repaired. But there will be no coal mining,” Popov said. The manager Valeri Manov clarified that there is an act drawn up by the Regional Labor Inspectorate – Blagoevgrad, for stopping work in the 64th basement gallery, where the tragedy with the four miners happened. But in general, the activity in the whole mine is not prohibited. Late on Friday evening, the two miners Nikolay Mihailov and Ivan Lazarov were buried together, as they died. Relatives, relatives, friends and acquaintances from all settlements in the municipality of Simitli came to the cemetery park of the village of Krupnik. The coal miners died amid tons of mud in the tragic accident at the Oranovo mine on July 16. Their bodies were in closed coffins placed on two benches. They were not brought to their homes, but right in front of the entrance to the cemetery. Everyone’s 18-day hope of being alive is gone, to be replaced by grief and tears. Even the priest Velichko Hristov, who performed the funeral service for the two dead, could not hold back his tears.
“Instead of going to the weddings of these two heroes, we have gathered to see them off on their last journey. I baptized him Ivan, and Nikolai was a classmate of my late daughter Magdalena. We lost worthy men, their eternal memory”, these words of Father Velichko unleashed the emotions of hundreds of people who burst into tears. Everyone went to say goodbye to Nikolai and Ivan, their coffins were laden with flowers. The manager of the mine, Valery Manov, placed four red carnations each.
