Twelve Hospitalized After Consuming Toxic Mushrooms in Central Pennsylvania
Emergency responders reported a mass casualty incident in Central Pennsylvania following an alarming case of mushroom poisoning. Nearly a dozen individuals were hospitalized Friday night after consuming what authorities identified as toxic mushrooms in Peach Bottom Township, York County.
Incident Details
The situation unfolded on the 200 block of Burke Road, where local authorities received urgent calls regarding individuals exhibiting symptoms of poisoning. The Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company confirmed that 11 people ingested the toxic fungi and required medical attention.
In response to the incident, multiple ambulance units from York and Lancaster Counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Harford County in Maryland, were dispatched to the scene. A total of six ambulances transported the affected individuals to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
State Police Involvement
The Pennsylvania State Police were informed and arrived on-site to assist local officials. Initial investigations focused on the source of the mushrooms and the circumstances of their consumption, aiming to prevent further incidents.
