Tribute in Washington to the 8 deceased Salvadoran heroes
In an emotional ceremony held today, Thursday, in Washington DC, the Salvadoran community and diplomatic authorities paid tribute to the eight national heroes who lost their lives last Sunday, September 8, in a tragic plane crash in El Salvador.
The Salvadoran ambassador to the United States, Milena Mayorga, led the religious ceremony in honor of the deceased, among whom was Lieutenant Jonathan Alexander Raymundo. The mass, presided over by Auxiliary Bishop Evelio Menjívar, served as a space for reflection and solidarity with the families of the victims.
The eight national heroes, including members of the National Civil Police (PNC), the Armed Forces and a journalist, were carrying out security duties and were heading to San Salvador when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed. Their loss has shocked El Salvador and the Salvadoran community in the United States.
This act of homage highlights the courage and dedication of these public servants who gave their lives in the line of duty. The international community joined in El Salvador’s grief at this time of national mourning.
