Mass brawl after shooting in Vienna

The police arrested the suspected shooter as well as all other people involved.

Wien. Once again, there was a brutal confrontation in Meidling. This time, the altercation is believed to have occurred around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning around two cars on Ruckergasse.

According to a witness, the front car allegedly cut off the path of the second vehicle. A 39-year-old Austrian with a migrant background, who was traveling with a group, is said to have then fired a pistol at the cars.

Police officers from the Hohenbergstrasse police station heard the loud bang and immediately went to the scene. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found seven men attacking each other. Additional police officers had to be called in to bring the mass brawl under control. Both the suspected shooter and all other people involved were temporarily arrested.

Seven men were arrested

They confiscated the pistol, but the projectile had damaged a house wall. Those arrested are men between the ages of 25 and 56. Four are Austrian citizens with a migration background, the other three are Turkish nationals.

The exact motive is still unclear. According to the police, all those involved have so far refused to make a statement. They were reported while at liberty on the orders of the Vienna public prosecutor’s office.
