Economy Minister Sergio Massa will spend three intense days in Washington, between Wednesday and Friday, where he will participate in the joint annual meeting of the Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, and has scheduled numerous bilateral meetings. The main objectives of him: to secure resources from international organizations that strengthen reserves and attract private investments in strategic sectors.
The agenda also includes activities within the G20, including a ministerial meeting. As part of the activities planned for the Annual Assembly of the IMF and the World Bank, the Argentine delegation will participate in the working meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee and those planned within the Development Committee.
The minister will travel accompanied by the secretary for economic planning, Gabriel Rubinstein, the adviser for international affairs Gustavo Martínez Pandiani and the spokesman Santiago García Vázquez.
Among the activities that the minister will maintain, a bilateral working session with Gita Gopinath, deputy director general of the IMF, and his participation in the meetings with the economic authorities of South America and Mexico organized by Ilan Goldfajn, director of the Western Hemisphere Department , stand out from the multilateral organization of credit.
The IMF approved at the end of last week the achievement of the goals for the second and third quarters of the objectives committed by Argentina in the Agreement on Extended Structures, which will allow an immediate disbursement of 3.8 billion dollars.
The official agenda also includes bilateral meetings with secretaries and finance ministers from Mexico, Turkey, Spain, Brazil and authorities from the OECD, the European Investment Bank and with the European Union’s Commissioner for the Economy.
Likewise, Massa will participate in the discussion of Finance Ministers organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as part of the 56th meeting of the Central Banks Network and Finance Ministries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Finally, he will have a business meeting with representatives of the United States government and executives of American companies with economic and productive investments in Argentina, organized by the Atlantic Council, one of the most influential local think tanks globally.
