Codruț Marius Semănaru was appointed by the board of directors of the National Company Casa de Comerț Unirea SA as general manager. He will manage the 100 million euro budget of this state-owned company set up by former PSD minister Petre Daea and resurrected by current PSD minister Adrian Chesnoiu.

The Unirea Chamber of Commerce will be capitalized with 100 million euros this year and will have the role of taking the goods from thousands of small vegetable and fruit producers and taking it to stores. The experience so far of the state business, which was supposed to open 80 stores across the country, looks bankrupt: debts to suppliers, the two stores closed, losses of over 12 million lei in two years, according to Digi24.

Who is Codruț Marius Semănaru. The new general manager told G4Media that, apart from a brief “challenge” to the state, as director of the Romanian Road Authority, he worked exclusively in the private sector, as manager of companies operating in logistics and agriculture, including Bristol Logistic.

Semănaru confirmed for G4Media that he is the son of Rareș Mănescu and Ramona Mănescu, former PNL leaders close to the Monaco group. Rareș Mănescu was the mayor of Sector 6, and Ramona Mănescu – Minister of Transport and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During Ramona Mănescu’s term as Minister of Transport, Codruț Semănaru was appointed director of the Romanian Road Authority, according to his wealth declarations. While Ramona Mănescu was a member of the European Parliament, Codrin Semănaru’s wife worked for the European Parliament.

Codruț Semănaru confirmed for G4Media that he was a member of a Masonic lodge, as Rise Project wrote in December 2020. Asked if he is still a member of the lodge “Călugăreni no. 176 ”, about which Rise Project wrote that the influence of the big decisions from the City Hall of Sector 6 in the mandates of mayors of Mănescu and Cristian Poteraș, Semănaru said that “it is a matter of nuance and I would not want to not discuss it on the phone. But that activity has nothing to do with my professional activity “.

He appears as an associate and shareholder, with 10%, in the company Variant Agro, together with a Ukrainian citizen, according to the portal Confidas, which takes the information from the Trade Register. Semanaru told G4Media that “I was a director and an associate, but I left a long time ago, I gave up the shares immediately after the start of the war in Ukraine. The company operated as a representative of a factory near Kharkov and in Romania we imported irrigation equipment and silos. Once the bombing started, the company could no longer operate. “

“I have been managing agriculture for a long time, only in private companies. At ARR it was a challenge that ended well. For example, at Bristol Logistic I was in charge of business development, logistics. There are many things that need to be done for Romanian agriculture “, Semănaru declared for the G4Media reporter when he was asked what he recommends for this position.

Asked if he knew the Minister of Agriculture, Adrian Chesnoiu, before he was appointed general director at Unirea, Codruț Semănaru said that “we have been interested before”. (Photo: Facebook / Codruț Semănaru)
