Manager Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, judge Mason Greenwood can become player number 9. There are conditions that must be met by the 18-year-old player.
Greenwood played well when United beat Luton FC 3-0 in the third round of the Premier League Cup. At Kenilworth Road, Wednesday (23/9/2020) in the morning WIB, Greenwood recorded one goal and one assist.
Greenwood recorded an assist to help Marcus Rashford score MU’s second goal. Meanwhile Greenwood’s goal was scored with a penetration from the right wing, ending with a left-footed shot towards Luton’s goal.
Solskjaer more often plays the role of Greenwood on the wing of the MU attack line. The Norwegian manager shows what side Greenwood must improve in order to become the No.9.
“He had a fantastic season last season. And to score goals now is important for him and Marcus. It is always attached to the strikers, to get the confidence and feeling of being able to hit the opponent’s goal, to feel hungry again. So, I am very happy with it. “That is, he just has to train to get back to fitness and sharpness again,” Solskjaer said on the MU website.
“So, I think in the end he will be the number 9 player. But, he is very good with his right and left feet, so he can stab from the right and left, or through the middle. I scored most of the goals also from outside the post, I don’t like to be in the middle.”
“For him, to be number 9, he has to learn how to head the ball. I keep telling him that and if he wants to do that he is very welcome and trained with me,” he added.
Greenwood appear sharp for MU last season. There are 19 goals and 5 assists in all competitions in the 2019/2020 season.
