  • From today on no more mask duty at elementary schools
  • Quarantine rules are relaxed
  • Applies to Bremen and Bremerhaven

At the elementary schools in Bremen and Bremerhaven, masks are no longer compulsory. This means that schoolchildren are allowed to walk around in classrooms and in the corridors without mouth and nose protection. If one child in a class is positive, the others have to test themselves more often – instead of three times a week then every day. According to the Bremen education authority, there are no plans to return to digital classes.

Quarantine obligation for children and young people relaxed

Relaxed quarantine rules also apply in Bremen and Bremerhaven. Children and young people up to the age of 18 who have had contact with an infected person no longer have to be in quarantine. The obligation to test for daycare centers and schools should initially be retained until the end of April.

The Senate had decided on the corresponding changes last week, and the citizenship had subsequently approved them. For secondary schools, a decision should be made by Easter on a relaxation of the mask requirement.
