Volunteers from the Sentinels coastal watch program echo the appearance of surgical masks and plastic gloves on our coastline. Normally this type of waste is not common but currently, given the widespread use they are having, they are beginning to be so and the problem could increase if measures are not taken in this regard.
María Grijuela, head of the Centinelas association, has called for, following all health indications and with all possible precaution, each person who goes out for a walk through the coastal environment, collects and manages the waste that is found.
The representative of the entity recommends depositing this waste, once we stop using it, in the specific container and check that this garbage is not congested as is usually the case at the exit of stores and supermarkets, to avoid at the mercy of meteorological factors and, therefore, minimize the possibility of them reaching our shores.
