The third season of Masked singers delighted viewers, who once again made it the most watched show of the fall.
To close this chapter won by the Chameleon, aka Michel Courtemanche, TVA is offering this Sunday behind-the-scenes access to this major Sunday variety event.
Michel Courtemanche, who used his background as a comedian and mime during each of his performances, confided to the QMI Agency, following his victory, that he was sometimes out of breath and was too hot after having given everything on the scene.
We can see this in Masked Singers: Behind the Scenes as he crosses his arms, a code for telling the team that he absolutely needs a break. We then find ourselves backstage and he struggles to catch his breath. He jokes that his next number will be a leisurely ride!
- Michel Courtemanche talks about his experience on Sophie Durocher’s show, via QUB radio:
It must be said that Michel rocked out as best he could and was one of the “favorite” characters of the third version.
To his great astonishment, the artist who will celebrate his 59e birthday, Monday, never thought he would make it this far, let alone win in the final against the great voices of Marie Denise Pelletier (Mutante Rita), Mario Pelchat (Loup) and Rita Baga/Jean-François Guèvremont ( Lion).
In this event produced by Productions Déferlantes, we see highlights of the show, such as Samantha Fox’s visit to sing Touch Me (I Want Your Body) during the 1980s special, but also song recording segments, choreography rehearsals and we visit the fabulous costume making workshop. The director, Patrick Martel, leaves nothing to chance to preserve the anonymity of the masked singers.
We also see Patrice L’Écuyer arriving at the workshop with a helmet on his head! We witness the moment when he discovers for the first time the costume of Lady Greyhound, his character. The game host wanted to highlight “her female legs” to deceive investigators.
We realize, if we hadn’t already, how much each episode requires careful preparation and a lot of energy. Let’s say that a whole army is active behind the camera.
We also find Mario Pelchat, aka the Wolf, as he pushes the note with musical director Fred St-Gelais for the play I Want to Break Free, by Queen. He says he “trips like a kid” by going outside his usual register. The 59-year-old Bleuet, who we will see again as a coach at The voice in January, on TVA, even revisits its classic Crying in the rainversion of the Wolf, before bursting out laughing.
Marie Denise Pelletier confides that her character of Mutante Rita is inspired, kindly, by her aunt Rita. Finally, Jean-François Guèvremont, the Lion, testifies to “sweat in places that do not yet have a name in the anatomical dictionary”!
In her dressing room after filming, Édith Butler (Huard), whose last name means loon in Abenaki, says she “never had so much fun that now”. It’s touching to hear him tell the lyrics of the song Marcia Bailaby Rita Mitsouko, remind her of a difficult episode in her own life, breast cancer which affected her.
All the other masked people of the season are in this special show, which is presented this Sunday, at 6:30 p.m., on TVA. Remember that a fourth season has already been confirmed.
