The Third Criminal Sentencing Court sentenced three people linked to the Maskana case related to the embezzlement of Q40 million in fuel coupons for the National Civil Police (PNC) to six years of incommutable prison.
These are Enrique Rodríguez Figueroa, Osman Alexánder García Alvarado and Marvin Alberto Molina Leal. Both received a sentence for money laundering.

Rodríguez Figueroa must pay a fine of Q514,804 and decent reparation of Q50,000; García Alvarado must pay a fine of Q1 million 800 thousand and reparation worthy of Q180 thousand and Molina Leal a fine of Q168 thousand and reparation worthy of Q134 thousand.

Investigation of the Maskana case for fuel embezzlement in the PNC
The investigation of the Public Ministry (MP) and the defunct International Commission Against Impunity (CICIG), on September 18, 2009, the General Directorate of the PNC and the company Proyectos Maskana signed administrative contract 113-2009 for the purchase of coupons redeemable for gasoline, for an amount of Q40 million.
However, the investigation details that the resources were diverted to companies in Panama, Brazil and the United States. In addition, they used it for other illicit activities and to benefit individuals.
Separately, the former Minister of the Interior, Raúl Velásquez, was accused of four crimes, but was acquitted.
There were nine people involved in the embezzlement, of which three had already received sentences: José Aníbal Hernández Nova, former advisor to Velásquez, sentenced to 10 years in prison and to pay a fine of Q205 thousand for the crimes of concussion and money laundering. ; Baltazar Gómez Barrios, former director of the PNC, to five years in prison and a fine of Q10 thousand, for the crimes of breach of duties and concussion, and Héctor Israel Lapoyeu López, to two years in prison, for breach of duties.
