DPR RI F-PDIP member Masinton Pasaribu apologized for not being able to join the Coalition for Change that supports him Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election. The Democratic Party (PD), which supports Anies, understands this.
“We can understand that Bang Masinton’s statement is only meant for coalitions formed by political parties who are members of Jokowi’s government at this time. It could be that personally he has some discomfort with being side by side with opposition parties or with the figure being promoted as a presidential candidate from the Coalition for Change, namely Mr Anies,” said Deputy Bappilu DPP Democratic Party Kamhar Lakumani to reporters, Thursday (16/2/2023).
Kamhar said the Coalition for Change which consisted of PD, NasDem and PKS was open with other parties to form a coalition. Throughout, he said, the party has the same view.
“The Coalition for Change adheres to an open or inclusive school of thought. It is open to any party as long as it has the same fighting platform for change and improvement, and is committed to mutually reinforcing. We realize that collaboration and synergy of all elements of the nation, including cooperation between political parties, is a must in responding to complexities. problems of this nation in the future to realize changes and improvements,” he said.
Kamhar emphasized that there are no permanent enemies and friends in politics, except for interests. He asked Masinton to understand that.
“Whatever Bang Masinton’s reasons are, it would be wiser to understand by saying that in politics there are no eternal friends and foes, but interests. In politics there is also the expression ‘everything is possible’. If you understand this, as a politician you should be far from an exclusive perspective. or closed,” said Kamhar.

For your information, Masinton had talked about the current political steps of the PDIP ahead of the 2024 Election. Masinton said that PDIP could be with the Great Indonesia Awakening Coalition and KIB, but not with the Change Coalition.
Masinton said that it is important to conduct assessments with other political parties at this time. For this reason, according to Masinton, PDIP can work together with the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition and also with the United Indonesia Coalition, but not with the Change Coalition.
“So these assessments are important, we are not people we just gathered earlier, we are exploring cooperation first, meaning we can be with friends in the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition, can be with friends from the United Indonesia Coalition, but if it is with the Coalition Changes seem to apologize, Bang,” said Masinton in a discussion at the DPR building, Parliament Complex, Thursday (16/2).
