The Masimo company is primarily focused on the health segment, but the new Freedom watch (translated as “Freedom”) should also help it reach the regular user market. In addition, the watch itself tries to differentiate itself from the Apple Watch as much as possible. They have a circular display and a small button on the side for selecting items. The watch mainly relies on measurement accuracy, for example the technology for measuring blood oxygenation is supposed to be far more accurate than that of competitors. And apparently we don’t even need to mention “competition”…
Watch with phone price
The watch also measures breathing rate, hydration, heart rate and its variability. In addition, they record steps and detect falls, monitor exercise and monitor sleep. However, the watch as such does not yet have the necessary approvals for medical functions in the US, so it will still have to be put on sale. And probably until the end of this year. And even then, the price of the Masimo Freedom will not be attractive. The manufacturer charges exactly $999 for them without tax (approx. CZK 27,500 with VAT), and those interested can reserve them now on the manufacturer’s website, by making a one hundred dollar deposit. The company will then send the watch all over the world.
The lawsuit against Apple’s smartwatch was definitely not random, and it was also precisely planned. However, only time will tell if the Masimo company can get something out of it. At the very least, the fact that only a minimum of people knew about it before the outbreak of the case. However, this has changed radically in recent weeks…
