Maserati Nettuno: the new 630 hp V6

While this announcement of new Maserati engine was scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020, Maserati has finally formalized the details of its V6 3.0L of 630 ch alias Nettuno !

The Maserati Nettuno is therefore, according to the press release, a new 100% Maserati engine. It will equip the new Maserati MC20 supercar which will be unveiled in September 2020 but also, according to our information, other future models of the brand such as the future GranTurismo, GranCabrio and D-SUV.

The Trident brand announces a patented technical revolution on this engine and 3 innovative features :

  • combustion prechamber located between the electrode and the combustion chamber;
  • side candle to ensure constant combustion when the pre-combustion chamber is not necessary;
  • double injection system, direct and indirect, to control CO2 emissions and consumption at low speed.

The Maserati Nettuno is therefore a 3.0L V6 90 ° bi-turbo which offers a maximum power of 630 ch at 7,500 rpm, a couple of 730 Nm between 3000 and 5000 rpm and a maximum speed of 8000 rpm. All without hybridization!

This engine was therefore designed in Modena at the Maserati Innovation Lab. According to us it is not 100% new because there is a good chance that it is declined from the V6 present in the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, itself declined by a Ferrar engine. But this remains to be proven. A comparison table below to better understand the differences between the engines.

What ultimately matters are the developments. And, 8000 rpm… it’s going to scream! ????

Maserati concludes this announcement with a return of the brand to the world of motor racing, without specifying which.
