Maserati MC20 Folgore, three electric motors and over 621 HP – Electric

Not even the time to enjoy the brand new Maserati MC20 that all the enthusiasts’ attention has already shifted to electric variant of this super sports car, which was announced by the car manufacturer of the Trident without, however, that some official details have already been issued. Despite this, the first rumors about the new battery variant of the supercar have already circulated on the web, and they seem really interesting, especially in terms of performance.

The new Maserati GranTurismo will arrive in 2021

As reported by Autoblog Maserati’s new range of electric vehicles, which will also include the MC20, will be called Thunderbolt. All the Folgore variants of the Trident models will have an 800 Volt powertrain that will power three electric motors: two of these will work on the rear wheels, while the third will turn the front ones. As mentioned, the performance of the electric variant of the MC20 should be surprising: official numbers obviously have not been issued, but according to the latest rumors it should be absolutely more powerful of the standard model, capable of unleashing a total power of 621 hp and delivering a maximum torque of 730 Nm thanks to the Nettuno engine, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. Consequently, the specifications related to top speed and sprint from 0 to 100 km / h will also improve, with the former currently standing at 325 km / h and the latter at 2.9 seconds.

For reasons of weight distribution the lithium-ion battery pack will be positioned behind the firewall, that is the part of the bodywork that separates the engine compartment from the passenger compartment. According to rumors, the fast charging capacity of the new MC20 Folgore should be 300 kW. News also expected in terms of style, with the aim of making this electric version unique compared to the standard model. But be careful, because the new MC20 Folgore it will not be the first electric of the Trident brand, which will be responsible for launching the battery version of the GranTurismo first on the market.
