The most fashionable London neighborhood is called Marylebone Village and when you visit it you understand why: despite being a stone’s throw from Oxford Street, it is an area that has maintained the air of a “village”, a quiet oasis in a decidedly metropolitan context. For this reason Marylebone has become highly sought after as a residential area, also favored by the large number of shops, boutiques and renowned restaurants and the proximity of Regent’s Park. It is not easy to find apartments in a neighborhood where there are still many period Georgian style houses.
It’s no surprise then that the new development under construction at 100 George Street, created by Native Land in partnership with Derwent London and The Portman Estate, has seen the fastest sales in central London this year, according to the Knight Frank agency – half of the apartments have already been sold. Work is expected to be completed in spring 2025 and prices start from £1.85 million.
«The success recorded by 100 George Street is due to first class planning but it is not surprising -, explains Rupert des Forges, head of Prime Central London by Knight Frank -. Marylebone continues to be the area of choice for British and foreign buyers who love discretion.”
The complex of multi-level buildings, designed by Hopkins Architects, is inspired by sober Georgian architecture and has 41 apartments of different sizes, from spacious penthouses with roof garden terraces to pied-à-terre with one bedroom.
The first “ready” apartment has just been completed, furnished with sober elegance by the interior design studio Chapman Eugène, to give potential buyers an idea of the interiors and spaces. The almost three meter ceilings are higher than usual and give a sense of spaciousness, while the choice of colours, from cream to sage green to forest green, gives a sense of peace. The furniture is made to measure, like the pink marble table, or chosen for its look, like the Utrecht armchair by Cassina, a design classic.
«Our goal was to create a new reference point for luxury residential in London in a perfect context – says Nicholas Gray, director of Native Land -. Marylebone has long been a favorite destination for all it offers and its proximity to Mayfair.” Residents of 100 George Street will have access to a private gym, spa and sauna room, library, community lounge, meeting room and cinema room. There will be a doorman available 24 hours a day to ensure security. The complex overlooks a new pedestrian area with shops and restaurants which is part of the regeneration project of the neighborhood by the Portman Estate, owner of the land, which also includes new offices.
