“Yes, the record can feel a bit awkward between nostalgia and current affairs – given that it has enlisted next-gen stars for a soulful hip-hop collection – but the takeover narrative makes these songs shine. So inspiring and entertaining as ever, Mary has never given up her signature sound, and it continues to pay off.”
