Marvin Wildhage took a close look at influencers in his latest video. He wanted to see how far influencers advertise products for money and how much they really care about the advertised product.
Last week, the 24-year-old uploaded a video entitled “Influencers advertise my fake product” on his YouTube channel “Marvin”. In the video he explains that he wanted to test how far influencers go and whether, as he himself says in the video, they “advertise for trash”. To test this, he quickly launched a product.
Marvin decided to bring a cream onto the market because, according to him, it is easy to produce and one or the other is easier to cheat. Something was cheated on the ingredients on the label. Because the cream should contain uranium, asbestos and Pipikaka Seed Oil, all ingredients that should not be included in a cream. Uranium is used for bombs, among other things, and asbestos is carcinogenic. These ingredients should usually deter the influencers from promoting the product. But not everyone has taken a close look at the product. In the video, Marvin also shows how he makes the cream, because it’s not really a cream. It’s lube.
This is how Hydrogel came about, with a high-quality design, a website and even a social media presence. The likes, followers and comments were bought so that the Instagram page looks like a real startup company to the influencer, but is of high quality and genuine. Marvin created the website with selected stock photos from the Internet and provided it with his own logo. Marvin also shot his own story content and uploaded it with fake accounts, which were then uploaded by Hydro Hype. Everything looks very real at first glance. Even the “Alnatura” and “Denn’s BioMarkt” markets reacted to the stories and thought that the products could actually be bought in their market.
To make it even more realistic, Marvin asked an influencer who posted an ad talking about the product and tagging the Instagram page. Marvin even invented a PR company, Corcovado Promotions. With homepage, email account, number and social media presence.
Next, the influencers were missing. These were requested with a briefing. Many of the influencers asked canceled, but one responded and wanted to test the product for the time being. Enisa Bukvic, the friend of Simon Desue, who took part in the show Germany’s Next Top Model in 2019, but then voluntarily flew home. Your management has agreed to Marvin and so he sent the product to Dubai. Enisa tested the product and was satisfied. She agreed to the product placement and created a story, which she then posted on her official Instagram channel. Marvin himself was surprised that it worked. She even mentioned everything from the given briefing, including that one of the ingredients is uranium.
After the video went online and over 1.8 million people saw it, the response was great. Enisa is just not doing so well. The influencer, who lives in Dubai, has suffered a lot of hate since then and has not been as active since then. But then there was a statement from her. In this she apologizes to her followers and explains the situation from her point of view. The statement published on Instagram also shows that she has separated from her old management.
On May 13th, Marvin uploaded a statement on his channel, he apologized to Enisa and asks his followers not to make derogatory comments on Enisa’s channel. He also invited her to come to his studio and talk to him. It remains to be seen whether Enisa will comment on the subject again.
The next part of the series is coming soon on YouTube. On Thursday and Saturday, however, it is also published free of charge on Joyn. There the episodes will be broadcast on “Achtung Aaron”. The videos were produced and financed in collaboration with Joyn.
