Marvel’s Wolverine Co-op Mode Leak and Release Date Update: What We Know So Far

An ongoing data leak following a ransomware attack on Insomniac Games continues to provide information about Marvel’s Wolverine. The code, analyzed by Redditor VISCERAL, appears to make references to the need to sync the two clients, which would only make sense in a multiplayer environment.

_// need to do a slower check against each client still connected to see if they were actually requested to warp for( ClientIterator itr = g_ClientManager.GetIterator(); itr.Loop(); itr.Next() )_ uint32t client_index = itr.GetClient()—>GetClientIndex(); uint32_t client_mask = 1 « client_index; if( (m_HeroesWarpedRequest & client_mask) != 0 && (m_HeroesWarpedResponse & client_mask) == 0 )_ / We’ve hit a client still connected who was requested to warp but has yet to respond return;
_// Adjust the spawn matrix if both players will warp to the same location_

Considering the game’s plot orientation, it is logical to assume that we are talking about cooperative, and not some kind of 1 vs 1 mode.

Marvel’s Wolverine was featured in an unprecedented leak that even led to an early PC build. But this is still a very raw stage – the Insomniac Games roadmap showed that Wolverine is scheduled for release in the fall of 2026, and not 2025, as previously thought. That’s because the California developer is also working on a standalone Venom game, which will likely be comparable in size to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and will release in 2025.

It’s hard to say which character Wolverine could team up with in co-op mode. It could be Spider-Man, since he was the main character in this universe that the studio was creating. It could also be one of the X-Men, as we learned from the aforementioned release schedule that Insomniac is planning to make an X-Men game by 2030.
