Marvel’s upcoming movie Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, has faced yet another delay due to the current writers’ strike. The production had recently brought on True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto for writing duties, but it seems that time simply ran out between his appointment and the calling of the strike this past Tuesday. As a result, pre-production work on the highly anticipated movie has been halted indefinitely. This is not the first delay the Blade project has faced since it was first announced back in 2019, with original director Bassam Tariq exiting due to creative differences back in September 2022, causing a chain reaction of release date changes. It’s currently set for a Sept. 6, 2024 release date, but with the writers’ strike still ongoing, other Marvel Phase 5 movies could also be affected. Even though production can still continue during the writers’ strike, work on scripts cannot be completed, and changes in the writing could cause further complications. Keep watching this space for further updates.
