Square Enix has detailed the next-gen enhancements coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions of Marvel’s Avengers. And as detailed in an official graphic, the PS5 version of Marvel’s Avengers will feature two graphic modes, according to the publisher: Maximum Performance Mode, which runs at 60fps and in upscaled 4K, or 4K Mode which runs in native 4K and presumably with a lower framerate.
Marvel’s Avengers enhancements on PS5 include higher resolution textures, improved armor destruction, improved ambient occlusion, haptic feedback, spatial audio, and more. This is in addition to previously confirmed features such as cross-gen gameplay and saves, improved framerates, and significantly faster load times.

According to another chart sent, the Xbox Series X version will include the same graphical improvements as the PS5 version, with the exception that Square Enix has not implemented the two graphic modes. The X Series is simply listed as “Native 4K”, while the S Series runs at 1440p. In that regard, it’s unclear at what frame rate the game runs on Series X.
Typically, it is the Microsoft console that has the upper hand in this regard, at least when it comes to backward compatibility improvements, probably due to restrictions on how the Sony console handles legacy updates.
If Xbox really lacks the PS5’s graphic mode, it’s likely due to the PlayStation global marketing deal Square Enix has signed for Marvel’s Avengers.
