Square Enix announces that Marvel’s Avengers will be available for free to play on PlayStation, PC (via Steam) and Stadia from July 29 to August 1. This is in honor of the start of the summer blockbuster season and the permanent release of the multiple-hero feature in the game. A similar all-access will also be available on Xbox consoles in the coming months.
We briefly saw the multiple-hero feature in action in April as part of the Tachyon Anomaly event. This allows players to team up with more than one copy of the same superhero for any online multiplayer mission, making matchmaking faster and easier.
During the all-access weekend, anyone who wants to try the full game can simply download it from the digital store of the respective platform. When players decide after the all-access period Marvel’s Avengers on the same platform, they keep all the purchases they made and progress they made during the all-access weekend.
“With our one-year anniversary in sight, there’s never been a better time to get together in Marvel’s Avengers. Players who join now will get eight heroes, a wealth of single and multiplayer content, ongoing events and more,” said Scot Amos, co-studio head at Crystal Dynamics. “In addition, the War for Wakanda expansion is coming in August, so this is a great opportunity to get started so that by then you’ll be ready to play as Black Panther and battle Klaw with the rest of the Avengers.”
The all-access weekend is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC (via Steam), and Stadia in all regions where the game is available. During the all-access weekend, all parts of Marvel’s Avengers available, including the Reassemble campaign, the ongoing Avengers Initiative, and Kate Bishop and Hawkeye’s Operations.
