The MCU is large, and involves so many characters and actors that it is often the subject of rumors. Most of the time, these relate to the fate of such or such a character, and which actor is going to interpret it. The latter lend themselves to the game and sometimes try to muddy the waters, like when Chris Evans reacted to a potential return to the MCU when he officially retired after the movie Avengers : Endgame. Recently, Kevin Fiege (president of Marvel Studios) silenced a rumor circulating in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Explanations.
outcry at marvel
Chris Evans returns to play Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, was not for the moment a definitively excluded option. Indeed, we were talking about it last January, the actor was destined to rethread the costume for the needs of the MCU. While no further clarification was provided, it left fans free to imagine where, when, and how Chris Evans would reappear as the Shield Hero. A rumor that has clearly intensified with the Disney + series Falcon and the Winter Soldier which has already aroused some reactions – and who could have seen the actor appear.
Asked by Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Fiege clarified:
I rarely answer ‘no’ to this stuff, because I myself get surprised at how certain situations end up turning out, but I think this rumor was covered up pretty quickly by the interested.
Although he is content to simply quote the words of Chris Evans, it is clear that we can ditch the idea of him re-donning the Captain America costume for now. Many fans became attached to his performance and continue to appreciate him today. One thing is for sure, this translates into additional pressure to Anthony Mackie who will have to do at least as well as his predecessor. In any case, we will have plenty of time to find out, with the first episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier broadcast this Friday, March 19!
