Marvel Studios: Iron Man, the only original Avenger not to be replaced in Phase 4 of the MCU?

The epic conclusion of the Infinity Saga caused a real slaughter among the original Avengers! In Endgame, the final superhero fight against Thanos ended in the deaths of Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), while our dear Captain America (Chris Evans, already nostalgic for his role) is retired. Steve Rogers passed on his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), while Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) will become the next Black Widow thanks to the solo film by Natasha Romanoff. Certainly, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Professor Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) remain protagonists of the franchise, but it seems that Marvel Studios has planned to introduce in the Phase 4 their replacements.

Black Widow et Nick Fury

Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) will become Thor in Love and Thunder, and Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) and Kate Bishop, the replacements for Bruce Banner and Clint Barton, will have their own Disney + series. Iron Man is therefore the only hero of phase 1 who does not yet have a successor! An astonishing choice on the part of Marvel Studios, especially if we take into account the extraordinary popularity of the latter, and the fact that his arc is definitely over, unlike his former colleagues. Indeed, we will see Black Widow again in his solo film, and the MCU Super Soldier could quite reappear in “grandpa gives advice” mode. But Tony Stark is definitely out of the game. Normally, the young Ironheart (Riri Williams), his replacement, should land on the screen, but not for a few years. As for Spider-Man, whose huge success endangers other Spider-Verse projects, he is a character in his own right and not a substitute for his mentor. Who knows, maybe Marvel Studios is preparing a surprise for us!
