The news had caused a stir in January. But it seems that a return of Chris Evans as Captain American in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is ultimately not on the agenda.
We know it: in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the dead never really stay dead, and Loki is the perfect example. And a character who bids farewell to heroes and returns to his or her time may very well resurface one day or another.
Like Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, played by Chris Evans. Last January, the very serious Deadline announced that the actor was in negotiations to resume his role in a future project.
Between the possibility that the MCU will soon become a multiverse and the arrival of the series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, this Friday, March 19 on Disney +, the options to bring back the character are not lacking.
But Kevin Feige put the brakes on all speculation: “I rarely say ‘No’ to anything now, because I’m always surprised by things that happen.”, says the big boss of Marvel Studios at Entertainment Weekly. “But this rumor, I believe, was pretty quickly denied by the principal concerned.”
When the information was out, Chris Evans had indeed not failed to react with a shrugging emoji on Twitter. But then it could be a sham and a desire to drown the fish.
And while Kevin Feige’s statement seems final, never say never with Marvel even though, as it stands, a comeback would be somewhat disappointing as Avengers Endgame provided a perfect and cohesive ending to Steve Rogers.
Next meeting with Marvel: “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” where it will be about the legacy of… Captain America
