After the confirmed returnee Jamie Foxx (as Electro from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”) and Alfred Molina (as Doctor Octopus from “Spider-Man 2”) it is now clear which actors will be in “Spider-Man 3” Tom Holland will still be performing.
The return of Jamie Foxx as Electro (and a corresponding Instagram post from Foxx) already hinted at it, the return of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, which became known last night, once again confirmed the rumors that were already circulating, now the cat (or spider ) from the sack:
“Spider-Man 3” will transfer the previous “Spider-Man” film series into a common cinema universe – a bit like the Oscar-winning animation film “Spider-Man: A New Universe” from 2018.
The so-called multiverse is a universe that also exists in the Marvel Comics, with numerous parallel worlds that differ from one another to a greater or lesser extent. It has long been known that this multiverse is now finding its way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with the series “WandaVision” and later the movie “Doctor Strange 2”.
The “Spider-Man” message now means that the MCU multiverse is not only expanding the “Avengers” universe with previously unseen parallel worlds and alternative versions of well-known characters, but also brings back well-known film series, among which one previously saw no connection – and of course their actors.
Because like the well-connected insider Jeff Sneider from Filmmagazin Collider now finally confirmed in an article, not only the villains from “Spider-Man 2” by Sam Raimi and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” by Marc Webb should actually return, but also the respective leading actors:
- Andrew Garfield from the two “The Amazing Spider-Man” films will certainly be there as Peter Parker / Spider Man.
- Tobey Maguire from the first “Spider-Man” trilogy is currently still in negotiations, but should also return.
- Kirsten Dunst will be there again as Mary Jane Watson after “Spider-Man 1-3”.
- And should her pregnancy allow, Emma Stone will play Gwen Stacy again, as in the two “The Amazing Spider-Man” films.

Animated film spider people too?
Also the industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter sees the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for granted. Writes in an article on the potential of the multiverse THR but additionally, that an appearance of an animated character from “Spider-Man: A New Universe” also seems pretty certain.
It would be conceivable, for example, that Shameik Moore can be seen as Miles Morales / Spider-Man. Given the great success of “A New Universe” and the enthusiastic reactions to the live-action appearances of animated characters in the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian”, that would at least not surprise us.
The main character of the still untitled “Spider-Man 3” is like in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” Peter Parker played by Tom Holland, even if that between all the returnees and sensational reports something takes a back seat.
“Spider-Man 3” is due to hit German cinemas on December 16, 2021.
